Hey everyone!

Say hello to our annual tradition and its… 8th Edition! 🥳

As the year wraps up, we like to look back at all the games we, as developers, managed to play and highlight the ones we loved most. Let’s be honest: game developers really don’t get as much free time for gaming as they’d like, so this is our best way to recommend our favorite titles to each other that we might have missed this year. It’s also a good way to share our love for games with you, our lovely community 💖

Did we overlook something great?
Please share your favorite game of 2025 on our Discord, Bluesky or Instagram!

Now, without further ado and in no particular order, here are the Games We Loved in 2025!

Some of the best bosses and enemies in the entire industry. Beautiful music.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Got my platinum trophy, now I’m just grinding my Hunter Rank to 999 like it’s my job.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

Too Kyo Games and Media. Vision

HundredLine2

Yes I 100% this game. Yes that took up a significant chunk of my gaming time this year. Would do it again.

Town to City

From the people who brought us Tiny Glade, another cube utopia for me to lose all sense of time and existence inside of. Cant wait for the farm animals update.

UNBEATABLE

D-CELL GAMES

unbeatable

this game feels like it was made by a team of people who wanted to make something and then went out and made that thing. it has more personality than anything i’ve played this… decade? at least? more than anything else, it knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be something it is not. the art is beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing and the writing is full of life and the vibes are immaculate.
and the rhythm gameplay is quite good too i guess.

“Time Cannot Be Stopped”… Except it can.

Jonathan S., Programmer

It’s just fun all around. Tight combat, excellent buildcrafting variety, amazing music.

Blue Prince

Dogubomb

blueprince02

I never played anything like this. Please, I beg you to try Blue Prince and reach to me so we can talk about it for hours. What a fascinating game I can’t help but thinking about, even away from my console.

Nathan, Art Director

One more. One more. One more. Wait, was that… did it mean… can I actually do… gotta play one more to go check.

Alison, Community Manager

As I scribbled perhaps incoherent notes and took far too many screenshots, Blue Prince quietly became a small obsession of mine. Building this mansion room by room opened many avenues to explore, and when it closed a door, it left me with multiple other paths to explore. Chasing one thread is a mistake in Blue Prince. That’s why its story is interwoven and complex. It’s an experience meant to lose yourself in.

Fields of Mistria (Early Access)

NPC Studio

mistria

Sometimes you just need to get away from the city, get in front of your pc and start planting way too many digital potatoes. Fields of Mistria scratched just that itch. I really appreciate the pixel art, the cartoony visual and movement that gets sailor moon like in portrait with the wonderful color palette. Doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but I’d say it gets it just right and is my favorite Harvest Moon like.

Alex B., Animation Director

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector

Jump Over The Age

sleeper

For a game about isolation, androids, and hardship, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector tells one of the most human and heartfelt story of this year. At its core, it’s about people and their struggles, hopes, and tribulations. I connected deeply with its story and its characters, and putting the game down felt like saying goodbye to friends who had truly left their mark.

Maxime M., Game Designer

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Team Cherry

skong

Just such a good game. The music, the challenge, the moveset, the complexity, yet still a very simple game. I liked everything, and it felt refreshing even though it was a “sequel”.

Laurent, Game Designer

Shaw. Lovely music.

Cem, Game Designer

“Shaw. Git Gud. Garama. Edino.” – Hornet

Quotes aside, it was a lovely addition to the Hollow Knight series, with a much bigger map to explore, another amazing soundtrack, some new and improved mechanics, and just an overall really punishing pleasant experience!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Sandfall Interactive

ex33

Great JRPG, great characters, great story, great music, great art, almost everything is great in that game except the platforming! 😛 Luckily for us, the tedious platforming is rare. But seriously for the rest, this game is so amazing. Considering all its nominations I’m pretty sure you’re not surprised either.

Fern, Technical Director

I was not prepared to love Expedition 33. Quite the opposite, actually, as “there can only be one 33 game this year”. But I must admit that I fell HARD for this game, after only 33 seconds of gameplay. Gustave 1 – Charon 1, balle au centre!

Marie, Sr. Marketing Manager

I cried, I laughed, I danced to the music: I was hooked from the very first minutes till the end. It’s been ages since a video game made me feel that way.

Sandfall created a mature version of the J-RPGs I grew up with, one that speaks to who I am as an adult. I thought I’d never feel that same spark again, but finishing this game gave me that warm realisation: it’s still possible ❤️

Alison, Community Manager

As a fan of the number 33, for obvious reasons, I was astounded by the quality of this game. It managed to scratch both the tactic part of my brain that likes turn-based RPG games and the adhd part of my brain that can’t sit still.

Med, Community Manager

It hit really hard in a way that I didn’t anticipate, honestly. I was a big fan of the parry windows – almost like a rhythm game at points. Excellent music.

Strong aesthetic with very satisfying gameplay that immediately hooked me, I can’t wait to see where the game goes and evolves
